Henry the Mischief Maker

If there is something for Henry to put in his mouth, it's going in his mouth. He puts eeeevvverthing he finds in his mouth. Everything in our house is covered in baby drool. His first two teeth popped through in early November, which was a painful week for all those involved. He woke up many times a night again for a few days -- it was like having a newborn all over. But he soon snapped back to his normal self with two new chompers to dig into anything his hands could grab.

Last month I commented how Henry could crawl and how he got himself into plenty of trouble. Well, now he crawls even better and is even more curious about his surroundings. He still shocks me how fast he can move -- if he wants something, you better believe he'll be there in no time. His new favorite thing to play with is the Blu-ray player. He turns it on and smacks his hand on top of it over and over (well until daddy runs over and removes him from the area).
He also is even more obsessed with Eddy's food and water bowls. The water bowl itself is shiny, and Henry goes after that thing like a magpie. In fact, Henry has spilled Eddy's water so many times (like I said, the baby is quick) that we have to keep his bowls on the counter in between doggy meals.

But Henry crawling is a lot of fun. He follows both Cadi and I everywhere now. Cadi calls him her little shadow. If we go into the kitchen to make food, so does Henry. If we go into the bedroom, so does Henry. If we go into the bathroom, Henry desperately wants to as well (but we quarantine him from the area -- don't need him crawling on the dirty bathroom floor).

Henry also recently discovered the spring door stops around the house. He loves to spend several minutes at a time flicking the spring over and over.
I always smile in the mornings when I make Henry's food and he follows me around and clutches onto my leg crying in agony because he is "so hungry." I'll move and he'll follow me and grab on. I'll move again and the same thing. It's really hilarious. When I work at my computer desk downstairs he does the same thing but without the fussing. We will have toys laid out for him, and they entertain him for a bit, but then he has to come and lay at daddy's feet and suck on his pants or socks.

Socks. That's another brilliant discovery by our child. He now knows how to take them off. Yay. At least 30 times a day I put his socks back on his feet. It's a perilous task. I'm told we need to get him the socks that kids cannot take off -- no matter the cost, these socks will be ours.

On Thanksgiving Henry was great with all the family and all the people holding him. We were away from home almost the entire day and the kid was a rockstar the whole day. He was such a nice boy for all those who wanted to see him.
Each year on Black Friday Cadi and I like to go out in the afternoon and just check out some deals. We usually get a few presents, a couple cheap Blu-rays and other sale items.

We brought our baby along and to no one's surprise, he was a champ. He started to get a bit punchy when Cadi was taking forever to decide between two jackets (come on mom!), but I simply rocked him in my arms and he fell right asleep as you can see above. It was an awesome moment.

One of my favorite nighttime activities when mom is working is to make Henry "work" for his bedtime bottle. He's usually quite ready for bed at this time (meaning he's just a bit cranky) and I love to put his bottle on the floor and watch him crawl after it. It's my way of teaching him that if he wants something, he's gotta work for it. Life lessons at seven months. :)

Here are some of my other favorite pictures from the last month:
